Granted Peugeots DO suck, but I wouldn't go so far as to burn one--unless I was in France : )

*Fun fact: The more mom caves to the kid, the longer and harder the kid will whine and tantrum the next time he's denied anything he wants. And if the kid whines for, say an hour, and mom gives in, guess what? Next time the kid will bitch at least that long before he quits, making it even harder not to give in. Taken in context, how do you think this bodes for the The Religion of Perpetual Outrage?

So I saw in the NYT that Jesse Helmes died today. I don't really know much about him, except that he was way conservative and everybody hated him when I was back in art school. [He felt that the NEA--the taxpayers--shouldn't have to pay for stuff like Robert Mapplethorp's gross gay fisting pictures, and the "piss christ.". Ooooo how evil!]

[BTW, you didn't see Catholics going out and blowing up buildings, burning cars, or even threatening the "artist" for what was certainly very offensive to them. And putting the cross in urine does seem alot worse than those cartoons of mohammed....]

Anyway the NYT was really hard on Helmes--downright nasty, considering he just died. Check out the article and caption under the picture. So, just for a lark, I decided to compare how the newspaper of record covered the death of a really bad man, Yassir Arafat in 2004 to how they covered death of Jesse Helmes today. Don't forget that Arafat was a terrorist in the truest sense: and was responsible for hundreds, if not thousands of Israeli civilian deaths. Take a look and get back to me. I can wait.

Well, as you can see, Arafat's death was covered as tho it was the death of a king, and Helmes' like he was just some..some bigoted dick not worth spit. Now, Helmes might have been a bigoted dick, but he was not a mass murderer [even teddy only killed one girl!]. How can this rag justify this kind of coverage? Just b/c Helmes was staunch conservative with whom they disagreed? They actually liked Ass-o-Fat more. They apparently liked him a lot. I read it the Arafat piece quickly, but I didn't see anything negative in there at all. With Helmes they spent several paragraphs deriding the guy, and then threw in a couple of things at the end about his being nice to teenagers or something. [I'm sure that was a last resort, after they dug to see if he'd been porking them too.]

Absolutely unreal. Terrorist and murder treated like a hero, conservative senator treated like a criminal. I'm never surprised anymore. It's like the Daily Show except without the comic genious. And the desk.

Oh, before I forget, the NYT has still not breathed a word about promotion of Sharia Law in England, the subject of my annoyingly long entry yesterday. What else did you expect?

I'm not one for exclamation points, but I think this deserves at least one.

Here's the headline in the Daily Mail . There's a similar one in the Telegraph. I strongly urge you to take a read. Also there are a couple of interesting links in the article which are quite telling: Please check them out too. One questions whether England has become Islamophobic--which is bullshit--in the sense that it is not unfair to Muslims. However, as to being Islamophobic in the literal sense, being afraid of Isalm? Boy, I hope so.

Sure there are "moderate" Muslims, but how many actually speak out and condemn the violence advocated an committed in the name of their religion? Only two well-known ones off the top of my head Walid Phares, and Irshad Manji. Also, Noni Darwish is a Egyptian born Muslim apostate and daughter a key Fayadeen general under former Egyptian president, Gabdal Nasser. (Fun fact: Under Sharia Law, apostates are to be killed. Nice. Very peace loving) T That's about it for well known "moderates." Here are a few lesser known brave souls. I'm sure there are others, but compare this to the vast number of violent and outspoken hate mongers who advocate slaughter in the name of Islam. BTW, last I heard, Manji had to install bullet proof glass in her car and home d/t numerous death threats. She's a Lesbian, another capital offense under Sharia Law.

I asked a Muslim acquaintance of mine--a regular guy--if he heard the vitriolic condemnation of " the infidel" and support for, or defense off, acts of violence committed in the name of his religion. He kind of looked away and and replied, "sometimes." I asked if anybody spoke out against it or if he did. His response,"I don't want any trouble, you know?" Meaning he didn't want to get his ass kicked or probably worse. So much for the religion of peace.

Anyway other article link in the Daily mail article is titled something like," We Muslims are the new Jews." Yes, absolutely. Except that it's a bunch of crap. Nobody's slaughtering Muslims, and I think they let them into the nice country clubs. And don't forget, the Jews haven't done shit to anyone. (Don't even go to the Palestinian thing--Even the UN says every nation has the right to defend itself, So there.)

Ok, once. One crazy act of Jew-on-Muslim vilence: Remember that Israeli guy who killed a whole bunch of Muslims praying in an Israeli mosque about 10 years ago? You probably do, because it's one of very, very few such incidents. Point is, there have been a bazillion acts of terrorism against in the name of Islam--so many that you almost don't even notice them anymore (except the really biggies, the Munich Olympics, 9/11, 7/7, the train thing in Spain, Khobar towers, US embassy in Kenya, the USS Cole in Kenya--hey that's a bunch right there. Damn. ) They happen almost every day. Even I yawn when I read about rocket fire into sderot and your run-of the mill pizza parlor or dance club bombings.

Back to the article. Coupla things: Although ostensibly Sharia would only be used within the bounds of English Law, you can totally see how, the wife beating, rape, and all the other goodies, would end up sliding by: Remember good 'ol battered women syndrome? Right. That'd neeever happen. These women would go right to the police and report it.

And lest we think this is only England, it's all over the place in Europe. (Disclaimer: The forgoing link is to a right-wing website, and the pic, well, I don't know. You be the judge--but you can find info all over the place, too.) Here's lovely tale from Germany.

In terms of Love, American Style don't forget that altho Obama is now a Christian, many of his family were Muslim and he was educated in a madrassa in Indonesia. The man's gotta at least have a lot of sympathy for Islamic causes. And consider all the beauties he hangs out with. So, yes, I'm Islamophobic.

Oh, all of the authors I've mentioned above have written excellent books on their experiences. (you can google them, I am tired of making links!) Melanie Philips, writer for the Telegraph I believe, wrote a very well documented book on the rise of militant Islam in England. It's appropriately titled, Londonistan.

In the Mail article, it's mentioned that "Orthodox Jews can use the Beth Din rabbinical courts to decide on matters including divorce. " I'll look into Beth Din and exactly how it is used.

Finally, paper I love to hate, the New York Times (online), predictably did not cover this huge story, even in the international section--at least not yet (but I'm not holding my breath).

Obama's for Equal Pay, Yet Pays Female Staffers Less Than Males

But when you look at our records and our plans on issues that matter to working women, the choice could not be clearer," Obama told the audience in New Mexico, a voter-swing state. "It starts with equal pay. Sixty-two percent of working women in America earn half or more than of their family's income. But women still earn 77 cents for every dollar earned by men in 2008. You'd think that Washington would be united it its determination to fight for equal pay."

This should be good--the explanation, I mean. I'm sure it'll either 1. be ignored or 2., we'll hear the usual, " I was unaware, and will correct the situation." I hope those women get reparations. I hope the feminists speak up about this; it'd be nice to hear something from them besides assiduously lobbying for abortion rights for teens without parental consent.

Two things: With these black separatist, socialist types, it's always about government mandated quotas, free cheese, and the right to sue for reparations. "Money for nothing, and the chicks for free," so to speak. Oh, and apparently some serious cash for trial lawyers. No idea where the man stands on tort reform, tho.

With regard to women earning 77% of men*, this is overall--not job-for-job. Given that relatively low paying professions, such as teaching, nursing, speech therapy and my own field, occupational therapy, are dominated by women, you think this might play into things? Moreover, of the many colleagues with whom I've discussed the issue, all admitted that they had made no effort to negotiate their salaries prior to accepting their positions. Very significantly, all of these colleagues have been women (Actually, in 10 years I've never worked a single male OT, or for that matter, a male supervisor.) In contrast, I've always negotiated very hard for everything I could get. I don't know if I make more than my colleagues, but THEY suspect that I do. They tend to bitch and moan about it good-naturedly, but do admit that they could have done more to achieve higher pay.

My theory (which is certainly not original) is that, except for the high powered executive-types--who are probably assertive by nature, and hence achieved their executive status--women are simply less aggressive in than men. Whether this is due to innate differences in gender, or environmental factors, I don't know, but the fact is if you don't fight for everything you can get, you're going to get less.

Maybe we need to have government sponsored assertiveness training instead of equal pay legislation. It'd still be a big stupid government program, so maybe it'll still make liberals happy.

In a related story: Yet another rider to the Iraq war funding bill, this time from the Ministry of Free Speech and Hurt Feelings. If the Ministry has its way, all Jewish, Christian, Asian, Gay, Hispanic, Black, and Muslim jokes would 1) have to be mandated as equally amusing, and 2) offend all aforementioned groups equally, or not at all. However, only those directed at the latter two groups would be considered racist or bigoted. And only Muslims would be permitted blow up people (or cars) they find offensive. (Non-muslim Black people would be limited to rioting, burning, window-smashing, and looting of their own neighborhoods). The intentioned result seems be to make all comedians suck as hard as Carlos Mencia. The Ministry would effectively coerce the marketplace-of-ideas into transforming, free speech into “free speech,” by combining the power of fear, with the apathy of boredom.

BTW, ever notice that Carlos doesn’t say too much about Islam? I don’t blame him. Thankfully, the cripples and retards are still fair game.

Finally, in an effort to appease his largely Infidel constituency, Senator John ’La Raza’ McCain has proposed to level the playing field even more with the introduction of a system of Terrorism Offset Credits, through which the right to kill masses of innocent civilians would be extended to everyone via trading on the Global Misery Market. McCain also hopes to pull votes from Barak Obama, by allowing Blacks to purchase TOCs at 3/5 of their market value.

which is probably why I got a f-ing ticket yesterday for not seeing, and therefore yielding to, a pedestrian in a crosswalk: The future was all up in my grille! Cop asked me, "were you distracted by anything, sir?" Channeling King Solomon, I quickly decided against, the first immediately occurring rejoinders: 1) the timeless, "My gun jammed," and 2) the haughty, "That's Sire, not Sir... Sir." After weighing my options, I settled on: "No--yes--well, he was super-cute--the guy in the crosswalk-- but I didn't want him to like think that I, like, liked him, so I had to keep driving... YOU know what I mean, Thir" [wink, wink].

Apparently, Mountain View is not as gay friendly as other parts of the bay area. Perhaps the officer was confused by the juxtaposition of rainbow and NRA bumper stickers adorning my back window. I certainly misread his thick, luxurious mustache...

Still, he shoulda got it--I mean we all know that only fags drive corollas. Moreover, you'd totally have to be gay refer to anything adorning anything. BTW, if you're an unemployed loser like me, Sanford and Son airs weekdays on TV Land at 9 am, and just may provide that extra "umph" you may need to drag yourself out of bed before noon. Try to forget that you're only getting up to watch a rerun of a show that you were too lazy to Tivo, and that the reason you generally sleep until noon (ish) is that you're usually up 'til 3 in the morning watching hogan's heros. Give yourself extra credit for not eating that entire block of cheese in front of the TV. Then you can reward yourself with a grilled cheese. And, yes, wiping the george forman grill does count as "getting something done," even if you still leave it on the counter. Unfortunately, moving one or more piles of laundry from one part of your filthy apartment to another does not--unless you sort it by color.

I am blown away! Lowell has taken a step in the right direction (albeit grudgingly), but how many more bazillions of people have to die before american students can focus on anything besides deriding israel or screaming for amnesty for illegals? Apparently quite a few. I don't remember too much when thousands were killed in muslim-on-muslim genocide in Rwanda; Still don't hear anyone screaming at the UN to actually do something besides chit-chat about Sudan (tho, many still bitch an moan about the US not doing enough--wait, don't we pay for the UN?). What about the killing and and "mistreatment" of Iranian Jews, Egyptian Copts and Lebanese Druze and Christians?

That's why I'm suprised Mugabe hasn't been nominated for a nobel peace prize---like say, Yassir Arafat. Wait a sec...wasn't it another nobel prize winner---Jimmy "f-k-the-Jews" Carter, who pushed for Mugabe in 1979? I believe he said something like--and this is a paraphrase--Mugabe is a gentle man who wouldn't hurt a fly. or shoot anybody. Apparently, he's still ok with hiring coolies with machine guns to do the swatting. Or maybe he was too busy bungling the iran hostage crisis--or dry cleaning the turban for his pal, the Ayatollah Cockamamie.

Final thought: You think Carter's affection for mugabe might stem from Murder Man's subtle resemblance to the lovable, affable (and decidedly non-murderous) Robert Guillaume--TV's "Benson?" Think about it: Guillaume is Black AND was all over TV in the 70s. And, since everyone agrees that all black men look alike, Carter's mistake is entirely understandable.
