Why is this stuff bad? Why shouldn't we be extra-super "culturally sensitive?" Because, by caving and apologizing every time something offends the "Muslim Community," it sends the message that there's no for these folks--who chose to live in a Western country-- adapt to its culture, customs and laws. Why bother, when if you bitch and moan enough, your adopted nation will adapt to you and your whining instead? It's like really bad parenting: Kid whines to mom for candy; mom gives kid candy; kid learns that whining gets him candy.*
But of course it's not really the bitching and moaning that has stirred the hearts of sensitive Britons: It's fear. Kill filmmaker in Holland who offends you, riot and burn cars for a weeks days in France [who doesn't hate the Citron, anyway?], Riot all over the world because about some stupid cartoons, and your bitching and moaning gains some traction, right? Granted Peugeots DO suck, but I wouldn't go so far as to burn one--unless I was in France : )

*Fun fact: The more mom caves to the kid, the longer and harder the kid will whine and tantrum the next time he's denied anything he wants. And if the kid whines for, say an hour, and mom gives in, guess what? Next time the kid will bitch at least that long before he quits, making it even harder not to give in.
